is it possible to create Pre-Keyed footage? If so, How?

PostSat Apr 01, 2017 6:45 pm

I am new to Fusion 8. I am making a video for school that requires me to have green screened footage appearing on top of the footage in certain areas (ex. top right hand corner). I am using iMovie because I don't have money to spend at the moment, and while it allows me to remove the black background or green background of green screen footage, it does not allow me to move the footage around like I need to do with the "Picture in Picture" effect, because the green background does not go and iMovie will not allow it to me removed in that function. the only alternative it would seem is to create prekeyed footage. I think I already discovered how to remove the background of the footage I already have using the CromaKey and Ultrakeyer tool, but I don't know how to render and save it so that it is a transparent movie. Please help

just create a saver node and save to a format which supports an alpha channel. there are only limited amount of movie formats which support it but a lot if image formats will do.

Hi Ritchie,

When you're done, save your clip in ProRes 4444 codec to preserve the alpha channel.
