What's wrong with fusion?

Fusion is crashing on me 10 times an hour. Sometimes very violently (sharp shut down).

I know there could be many causes for that (including hardware), and I don't know what it could be, but are there any essentials steps to take in order to improve the situation?

I'm using 7.5.

Did fusion worked fine before, or did it always crash?

One essential step is upgrading to the latest version. 7.5 is ancient as far as software is concerned.

Yes it was working pretty solid until two or three days ago.
I don't know what happened.

I was sticking with 7.5, because there was a function that wasn't working in 8, I don't remember which exactly (maybe volume masking with wpp, or so)
