What 3D models/patterns format can Fusion import ?

PostWed May 10, 2017 8:02 am

Hi there,

I know about .fbx - for I did it a few times - but where can I find a page dedicated to allowed formats to be imported in Fusion please ?
(.max, .obj, .3ds, .c4d, ........ ?)

Actually a co-worker is to send me some tuned stuff (birds, planes at least), but he told me a lot of formats are available.

Thx in advance.

If you to menu->file->import->fbx scene you can check all formats that are available in the format dropdown menu of the filerequester

So if I was going to buy a stock 3D model (mesh) from a site like turbosquid, which format would be ideal?

I guess I'm asking which format typically translates the best and keeps all of its materials in tact etc.

Sorry for the n00b question. I don't have any experience with Fusion yet, but I will be using it for mograph and logos soon.

Shall I assume Fusion does a good job of importing 3DS files?

It appears to me that .obj, .fbx and .3ds seem to be often used, therefore probably the more reliable... (my 2 cts)
