Fast Noise - Equirectangular & Seamless texture

PostSat May 20, 2017 6:13 pm

Hi,

quick question guys :)
Is it possible to create a equirectangular and seamless texture from the Fast Noise node?
Im trying to generate cloud inside my Sky sphere, and I'm ending up with with that seam in the middle and stretch mark on the top and the bottom.

Do the clouds need to move? Or are you trying to create a static image?
By it's very nature FN is endless, not repeating, so if you want to achieve this, the usual tricks that you would need to do in Photoshop and similar programs need to be applied here as well. Off-setting your image, clone-painting etc.

This doesn't answer your question but a different approach could be to use a skydome map which already have seams worked out and are equirectangular (plenty of free HDR you can download) and use a mesh warp to shift the clouds (focus on those directly overhead with fall off to no movement at the egde of the horizon). You may also be able to get away with moving the dome mesh slightly to give the clouds movement (may not work).

My comp is 3000 frames long and I need the clouds to move through out the whole composition.
So I guess it's not achievable with FN?
Thanks a lot guys for your help

Well of course it is possible. You just need to put in the work.

When I started out I tried making shots of 100 frames before I got into shots of this kind of length. It's two full minutes at 25 fps! Why not take some of the advice and try to apply it?
If we hadn't asked you if you wanted the clouds to move, we wouldn't have known, since your original post didn't mention it. The approach for moving clouds is different than it is for a still frame. A good 'briefing' will yield better results.
