3D Tracking software

PostSun Jul 09, 2017 1:19 pm

Hi guys,
so I've got interested in the 3D tracking of live footage, and I've stumbled upon some tuts on youtube showing how to do it, but with 3rd party software. One of them, Voodoo Camera Tracker, is free for personal use, and it caught my attention, but only to find out that its for Windows/Linux only.
Is there a way, to 3D track a footage for free on MacOS?
I have bootcamp with Windows 10 installed on it, but jumping between systems to make adjustments seems like a lot of hustle :)

Hi - you should be able to use the 3D camera Blender from Blender. Someone wrote an export script:

Blender 2.78 has the alembic export option .
Also Autodesk Matchmover is now free and can export a maya camera(ma) .It is faster than Blender though it feels a little outdated.

I see Matchmover is Windows only, sorry for that it leaves you only the Blender option.

What about PFTrack? There is a free non-commercial version.

The learning version of PFTrack doesn't have any export options. You can use it to learn PFTrack itself, but it's of limited usefulness aside from that.
