Fusion 9 codecs

PostFri Aug 04, 2017 8:15 am

I tried loading some QTs with a png codec - which has been my rendering codec of choice and they won't load. I checked in the saver and while all the Apple and Avid codecs are there (which is lovely on a PC BTW!) There are none of the traditional codecs such as Animation or png. Where did they go? Just checked in F8 and they are all there.

Ya I just tried to use both MXF and MOV flavors of DNxHR HQX 4K DCI and neither would load on my Mac. on the Mac I'm using just the free version of Fusion. Tonight I'll try my personal copy of Fusion Studio on my PC and see if it works.

Most of the legacy codecs were supported in Fu8 using the now discontinued QuickTime library. We do not use/require Quicktime library in Fu9 anymore.

Can you please give more details? DNxHR HQX is definitely supported in Fusion. Is it 10 bit or 12bit HQX?

Thanks for chiming in, Jith.
Will DNxHR support alpha channels too?
It was announced for Resolve but doesn't work for me there (on a Mac). I wouldn't cry if Animation is gone, it's so outdated.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Alpha support for DNxHR is still in the works. As of now, ProRes 4444 and ProRes 4444 XQ supports alpha import and export.

But it seems that ProRes 4444 isn't available with Fusion 9 Free on Windows.
Can you confirm Fusion 9 Studio is required to output to ProRes 4444 ?

Yes, ProRes encoding for Windows and Linux is only available in Fusion Studio.
