Random Crashes in Fusion 9

PostPosted: Thu Aug 17, 2017 3:07 pm

I'm having random crashes in fusion 9. Most of the time while rendering but also when doing nothing at all. It just closes. I'm working on a scene with a lot of the 3D elements. All the renders are set to use the software renderer. There is also a mp4 video file in the comp.
What could be the problem here?

What machine are you using and which platform? Also, can you please tell us if you are using Free or paid Fusion version?

I'm working with Fusion Studio on Win10 pro x64. i7-6850K 3.6GHz 6 Core, 32GB RAM and a Nvidia Geforce GTX1060 3GB Driver version 385.28 (also tried older drivers)

I also have gotten these random crashes, sometimes on exit and sometimes while the program is idle. I just installed it today.

Win 10, Intel i7-4770 @ 3.5 GHz, 32 GB Ram, NVIDIA GTX 770 2GB VRam, latest driver

Any news on this? I'm still having this issue. If there is something I can try on my end I'd like to know because it's really annoying.

Occasional crashes when sitting doing nothing or in the background, occasionally when I choose options within a node etc. Is there a way of collecting a crash dump file?

Fusion Studio.
Windows 10 Pro Version 1703 OS Build15063.540
i7-5960X @ 3.00GHz
RAm 64Gb
nVidia Titan X

I am getting a lot of these as well, can't see any pattern to them, aslo happens when nothing is happening and even when app in BG, so am guessing its some background process in Fusion.

Fusion Studio
Windows 10 Pro Version 1703 OS Build15063.540
1950x Threadripper and on Xeon e5-2697 v4
64 GB Ram
GTX 1080

As far as I know there is no error log or crash dump collection.

Similar experience here. I really can't identify the pattern -- sometimes Fusion will go hours without a crash, sometimes it will just disappear during random node interaction or playback, once or twice I've seen it drop out while in the background.

I'm seeing similar behavior on both Mac OS X 10.10.5 (2013 Mac Pro, full-spec) & Win10 (custom i7 + 32GB RAM + dual GTX 980s).

I've got this problem on multiple system so I would say this is clearly a bug.

Seems a public beta like for Resolve would have helped to make Fusion 9 mature enough. There's such a lot of possible configurations that i's near impossible to kill all the bugs inhouse.

Adding my name to the list of people with random crashes. Fusion 9 is way less stable than 8 and before on my system.

Win10 64bit, Intel i7-5820K 3.30GHz, 64GB Ram, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970

Hopefully an update helps button things up. For now, I may have to juggle with old versions on mission critical projects

Hey Niels!

Long time no see =]

I had some random weirdness that I managed to fix by making sure all fusion services prior to v9 are stopped/killed. It didn't fix all weird stuff that's happening in F9 but at least some of it...

So go into your taskmanager and kill all eyeon services and eyeonQT services, just kill everything that has something to do with Fusion (also F8 services and render nodes etc). Then start F9 Studio..

Hope this works for you!

Lots of Dutch names here all of a sudden. Is it just the names or are the Dutch converting to Fusion en masse?

Disable the OpenCL acceleration in the prefs and try it out for a bit. I've experienced some weird behaviour with all* the tools now being openCL enabled. Should speed things up and make it more stable. Hopefully this is being ironed out.

Granted; F9 isn't as stable as 8, which wasn't as stable as 6.4 etc.

I was getting these errors on a brand new build, no Fusion 8, pretty much no other apps installed with OpenCL disabled, latest drivers.

Hi Marc :D

Maybe you are on to something. I manually stopped some fusion 8 services every time I reboot so my bins would work but a some point I got tired of doing that and now it seems that there are less crashes than before. I also updated my nvidia drivers to the latest ones (from 385.32 or somthing to 385.41) so I'm not sure what fixed what but at least I can work with Fu9 again. It still crashes a lot but it's workable.

I installed fusion 9 - it crashes all the time what ever I do!

I need to render my fusion 8 projects in 4K, there is no possibility to buy a fusion 8 STUDIO any more, so I am trapped in the system...

does anybody help?
