Best way to create/import my own shapes?

PostWed Sep 13, 2017 8:25 pm

Hello everyone,

So far, I'm really satisfied with Fusion, I didn't expect that good for a free software.
However, I still can't figure out how to import/create my own 2D vector shapes, for example if I want to create some oval shape, triangle, or even an arrow, how to do such task?

Also, if there is anywhere that I can check for videos/tutorials for motion graphics/flat design intros or even 2D character animation (specially object parenting), I would be grateful.

My regards.

You can import vector shapes in various formats, either by file / import / shape or file / import / svg
I've just tested a svg format file. Essentially it converts the vector to a poly line mask which is added to a BG node. They are grouped together, so you have to open the group node to edit the contained Poly and BG nodes. So you can then set the BG colour or gradient to your choice; or stroke the vector / poly line by changing the Border Width slider.
PS: I'm using the Studio version

The problem with that, I can't edit its nodes for morphing and it gets rasterized.
Also, I knew there is something called Polygon Tool, what is this?

I made this animation almost exclusively with SVG files exported from Adobe Illustrator and imported in Fusion:

If want to play with the composition, you can download it here:

Krokodove workflow

Bitmap to strace node, then to create shape node, and now you have a 3D shape with bevel options and smoothing angle.

I'm really newbie to Fusion, can you please explain more or show by example? I would really appreciate it :D

Also, @Adelson Munhoz I downloaded the file you shared and it was blank when I open it, Idk what I'm doing wrong.

As far as I can tell the Flow view is missing in the shared comp and needs to be added to the viewer.

This is desribed on Page 14 of the Fusion 9 manual.

Hi Saif,

the comp was created in a 3 monitor setup. Probably the flow area is been drawn outside your monitor.

After loading the comp, try Window > View Layouts > Reset Layout.
