Red during render

PostMon Sep 18, 2017 11:25 am

I'm Having an issue rendering in Fusion 9 (Free Version).

My image looks fine until I go to render, at which point the elements that I have added go bright red. In this instance I am using a PNG that I have saved out of photoshop.

I am rendering the video QT Prores442HQ.

I have resorted to reinstalling Fusion 8 and opening the file in there (which works fine). When I export from Fusion 8 it works fine.

Any idea whether this is a bug or could it be something I'm doing?

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simon,

I'm not a Fusion user (yet) but I'd bet the red is an alpha matte. You might need to turn off a render setting to render mattes? It could be that Fusion is reading the alpha into the red channel (being the first RGB channel available) but that would be weird. Have you tried premultiplying the matte/alpha by the RGB and see what happens?

Thanks for the suggestion. That sounds very plausible. I'll investigate further.

I just find it strange that the same file works perfectly with Fusion 8....
