Reverse Stabilisation Problem

PostMon Oct 16, 2017 6:24 pm

Hi,

When I use tracker node with 2 trackers to stabilise the footage (Match Move, BG only, wrap) and then ty to re-apply the shake with transform node (connect center, size and angle to Tracker unsteady position, size and angle, set to wrap edges) the image does not quite match. It almost looks like the reverse transform is applied with 1 frame delay or something as when the camera moves quickly the problem is most visible. You can see edges don't match also the content is slightly delayed. See the example screenshot with merge node in difference mode to see the problem.

I am using Fusion Studio 9.0 build 13 but I had the same problem in Fusion 8 as well.

Thanks!

Maybe my workflow is wrong ... This is what I found out so far
  • when using just 1 tracker to stabilise and connecting transform node to unsteady position everything works
  • when instead of using match move BG only, I use transform tool with center, size and angle connected to tracker steady position, size and angle the footage is roughly stabilised but not anywhere as good as with matchmove BG only. Why is that? Do I need to connect anything else?
  • when I use 2 transform tools one connected to steady position, size, angle and the second one connected to unsteady poisition, size, angle motion is not reversed properly
  • when I use 2 transform tools one connected to steady position, size, angle and the second one connected to steady poisition, size, angle and invert transform checked, the motion is reversed properly. The only problem is that image is not stable enough after first node.

I usually just use a copy of the Tracker set to FG only. Connect the stabilized footage to both inputs.

I suspect, though, that the piece you're missing is the Axis. That connects to the Pivot on your Transform.

You were right Bryan. I've finally managed to solve the problem with the scrip mentioned here https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?t=40001&p=231786 that also connects axis. I am still curious how do you connect axis manually? Or is it not possible without a script? I think it's related to pivot.

I think it's just right-click on Pivot, Connect To > Tracker > Steady Axis. As I said, I seldom use that workflow.
