Setting up custom timeline filters doesn't work

Just as the subject of this post is saying, it just does not work, setting up my own custom timeline filters. For example I would like to create a filter for the loaders only, so that i can nudge around these easier, however if I setup a new filter and only check "I/O" and "Loader" (I've also tried only "Loader" without the top Category) in the preferences, once I saved this filter and go back to the timeline, selecting it, it does not doe anything. When I double check the filter preferences again my filter has a couple of check marks in the 3D tool area instead. Does anybody else has this issue? Thanks.
