Default Comping on White Background

PostThu Nov 30, 2017 8:57 pm

Hi there!

the Default composition settings are on "black" color.
is it possible, like in After Effects, to create a composition on a "white" background?

If so, how?

Thx

in the background node, change the the color to what you want... "white" in this case, then RMB on the node go to : settings/save default.

ok.. so it's background node.. but you have to use a background node?
is it not possible to setup the viewport directly to a white background?

Ah. You just want to work on a white background as a workspace?
Nope, you can't do that. The only option you have is in the preferences to set the interface to neutral grey instead of the slightly blue tint that is the default.

I'd suggest setting it to that anyway. Comping on white is a bad idea, since the large amount of white on the monitor will make your eyes squint, which makes it more difficult to judge whether or not your colors are the way you want them to be. Neutral grey to dark is best for this.

*edit* scratch my remarks. Apparently it *can* be done. See below. I never knew this.

You can. You can create a display LUT that merges your input over a white background.
I think there is even another way to do it: replacing the default checkerboard image by a white solid texture.

Unzip and drop this attached display LUT in your LUT folder.

Even easier :

Right click in viewer select "Global Options" -> "Background Color" -> "White.

Thats just for display, your actual render won't contain the white. But at least you can set your default 3d view / canvas to a color of choice....

Hi Alan,

Thanks for that. I had *no idea* this was possible now. Apparently this is a new feature since Fusion 8.
Goes to show that you're never to old to learn.
