.MXF files - Help

PostWed Dec 20, 2017 3:02 am

Hi all we need some help, I have just updated to the latest versions to get around the below problem but the issue is not resolved.
I assume it has to be a codec which is not common to all workstations?

We run one workstation with Fusion Studio and 4 others with the standard version, all running on Win 7 64.

One of the workstations imports .MXF files into Fusion without any issue, where do I need to look on this workstation to find a file that can be transferred to my Fusion Studio workstation to enable it to import .mxf?

W7 has serious limitations for H.264 codecs, but some of them are resolved with a patch. Are your files H.264 encoded? While W7 isn't recommended for Resolve at all, Dwaine once mentioned a patch for it in the neighboring forum that might help.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

The files are H264
Adobe has no issues loading these mxf files on any of the workstations

We have just upgraded to 9.02 and still having the same issue.

I copied the .mxf plugin from the workstation that can import the files and placed into Fusion Studio Plugin folder
F9 Studio kept crashing after this

Care to elaborate on this one a bit more? I haven't seen any limitations whatsoever for h264 codecs in W7 except where software itself is not capable. But this is the problem of software development, not op system. If software decoding (no dedicated hardware acceleration whatsoever) 4K h264 at 120fps on 5 years old cpu is seriously limited, I'd be happy to know what W10 is capable of.

A simple example is that on my Win7 machine Fusion 9 will *not* render a UHD mp4 and on my Win10 machine it will. I think this might be symptomatic for the difference between Win7 and Win10.

Only thing it is symptomatic for is Fusion 9. I haven't seen any other software that has problems with h264 specifically on Win7.
