Lens Distortion and CG workflow...

PostWed Jan 24, 2018 10:29 am

Hello everybody,
i'm working on a project mixing Matchmoved sequence and CG object.
In order to follow the good workflow as this one :

Image

I would like to know which tool is used in fusion to do the distort on the CG from a "STMAP" coming from PFTRACK which is green and Red.

i tried with the Vector Distortion but it doesn't do the job.
i tried like in this tuto "STMap roughcut" with the displace tool but the expression used isn't working...
1/Input.Width

can u explain me ur workflow ?

I have not personally gotten ST Maps to work in Fusion, I remember reading a while back that there was some issue where Fusion expected / generated ST maps with a different range of values than other apps and you could normalize imported maps, but this is all a super vague memory.

If you're coming from PFTrack you can use PFBarrels with the LensDistort node though, those seem to work fine right out of the box.

Syntheyes exports Fusion comps with something that to me looks like ST maps (they're tiff files with a nice green/red/yellowish look when viewed in RGB. That map is fed into a Custom Tool with settings that undistorts the image, when you're done a very similar map/custom tool redistorts everything again.
I don't know if PFtrack and Syntheyes' maps are compatible but you should be able to adapt one to the other.

If you are using PFTrack there is no need to export ST-Maps, just use LensDistortion node pick PFTrack under Lens Distortion Model tab, click Load Distortion Data and load .pfb

Works everytime.

Unless you really need ST-Maps for something else.

Ok thanks to every one. So i think i'll have to wait for the tracker men to be back... And i will try with the .pfb instead of trying to match it for the best at the hand.
I leave the shot on the side for the moment and i'll tell you after.
