9.02 custom path question

tried installing Crypomatte but due to concerns from IT I cannot place the lua in usr/local/lua/5.1/ I tried messing around with using a custom path in preferences (LuaModule path, even creating a user variable "LUA_PATH"). I placed the lua in the directories I tried to create a custom path for, but it still comes up with the error while starting fusion telling me it can't find the lua file.

Are custom paths really working in 9.02 on a Mac or am I just doing it wrong? Also, I cannot use Reactor for installs due to the network being closed at work.

Since you're already looking for alternatives to Reactor to install, maybe ask this question over at WSL?
There's a good chance that they can help you find a way to work around your IT department :-)

My suggestion is you start here:

Check out the environment variables and see if that helps you out.
