Fusion 9 / Centos 7 ffmpeg

PostWed May 09, 2018 4:35 pm

By the chance someone has a guide on how to get ffmpeg and Fusion 9 working on Centos 7?

As I load mp4 into fusion it crashes. And in general it's little bit unresponsive.

I have ffmpeg and nvidia drivers from negativo repo.
someone was recommending ELRepo in forum, but I've tried ELRepo with no luck.
I can't boot at all with them. '

any advice would be really helpful

Use ffmpeg and transcode your videos to an image sequence. If you’re using the free version of Fusion then I don't think you can even read MP4 files.

I'm using Studio. I was able to load mp4 files on Fedora 27, to quickly edit playblasts, but unable to do that on Centos 7.4 And it's bit weird though, as I was using same rpmfusion repo.

As Centos 7.5 released today will try that. hopefully will fix problem. will post update later.

You can, you need FFMPEG installed.

There's quite a few threads about it like
viewtopic.php?f=22&t=62308

But for linux, you want to install libav and ffnpeg dev versions, not just ffmpeg.

Okay, on Centos 7.5 have issues. it loads the file, plays 24 frames and freezes.(doesn't play rest 457 frames) All other applications can open the file and play it smoothly.

I have ffmpeg, ffmpeg-devel, gstreamer plugins installed. So I'm not sure why this problem exists.
the output from fusion I get is:
Could not open codec

But I'm not sure what is missing. Can anyone please help me on this issue?

ok. I'll gave up all my hopes.
Still have that 24 frames playback and freeze after that. Will try to compile ffmpeg from source with shared libs. Will post update later and as always, I would appreciate any help to solve this weird playback issue.

Hi Simas,

When you install ffmpeg is it also installing the libx264 package? I use the Nux repos for everything, and installing ffmpeg and VLC usually covers all my bases.

yes. it's installing libx264. No luck with clean install and Nux repos too. mp4 doesn't play in Fusion.
VLC works just fine.

Update.

Result 1
It looks Fusion can’t see ffmpeg. But it’s really strange as it has —enable-shared in configuration file.

Result 2
ffmpeg loads and i’m able to load mp4 file but it plays only first 24 frames and freezes after.

and that’s it. no matter what I do what repos I use, still the same. either 1 or 2

I still have a problem. I'm able to load the file, it loads in timeline, but plays only first 24 frames and freezes. Anyone had same problem?
