coming from after effects - 3D camera tracker

PostWed Aug 08, 2018 4:32 pm

Hi.
My first post here. I slowly made the transition from Premiere to Resolve and now I am giving fusion a shot.

One of the things I do most in AE is use the 3D camera tracker to take a shot with a camera move, sometimes a lot of parallax or just slow rotation and I stick text to certain objects in the shot. I have successfully done a simple shot in Fusion using the point tracker but have been unsuccessful with Fusion's camera tracker.

In AE i track. Then select the point where I want text. Right click and add text and a camera. Then position my text.

In Fusion I get all the way to the solve tab and I am confused by the ground plane and how I select the area that I want 3D text to stick. Can someone assist?

Thanks!

I would advise you watch the growing number of tutorials on YouTube and I think it will become more clear. I admit that the Fusion camera tracker is not as intuitive as AE, but I do think it can yield better tracks for challenging shots.

I watched each of those. I think a couple more and I am just not getting it. Actually switched to the planar tracker but I still haven't got the results. But I am sure it is me, not the program. lol
