Convert audio to waveform and then animate it

PostThu Aug 09, 2018 10:21 am

What I am trying to do is the following:
1. Convert a 3 minute audio track of a kick drum beat to its corresponding waveform
2. Animate the waveform so that it scrolls left to right
3. It should be synced so that the waveform beat that is in the middle of the screen is the same one that is playing on the audio track.

My current method for doing this is time consuming and produces mixed results.
1. I use FFMPEG to process the audio track and produce a waveform image. This takes a while because I have to tweak the settings and then re-process to get exactly what I want.
2. I import the waveform and the audio into KDENLive and then use keyframe animation to move the graphic.

I am hoping there is a way to do this all within Davinci Resolve, and perhaps a plugin or two. I am just getting started so I just need some direction. Thanks.
