Total Beginner Question: How to put Shadow to Text in Fusion

PostThu Dec 13, 2018 10:40 am

I made this Fusion construction (DaVinci Resolve 15.2.1) and was expecting a text shadow, the text itself has no drop shadow parameter - Link to larger image https://monosnap.com/file/XmEcM2Q63hLMr ... VezgmxKEmP

The shadow does not show up. It is connected as Effect Mask to Text.

I also tried everything else, merging shadow to text by a Merge2 and then into Merge1, all kind of stuff, Background, Foreground, Effect Mask in all combination: I get not shadow to that text.

Really appreciate any help. This is so basic, and I can't get it done. Total desperate now :|

Thanks for any help in advance!

Hi - there are 2 easy ways:

1) in the text+ node itself on the shading tab, select the 3rd "layer". This is set by default as shadow.
2) the Shadow node, but you will need to place this AFTER the text+ node. Right now you've added it to the mask input which is not going to work.

Soooo many thanks.

Yeah, this combination I didn't try. Used to work with Motion 5, changing to the node style is quite a challenge, but I see of course it's advantages.

Wish you a merry X-mas and a Happy New Year!

Greetings, Roland
