Sony OpencolorIO - in Fusion?

PostFri Apr 26, 2019 4:38 pm

Since Sony released as open source OpenColorIO, used for Into the Spider-Verse, has anyone heard any movement for a working version within Fusion?

Blender, Nuke, After Effects, etc all now have ported versions

OCIO works just fine in Fusion. There are three OCIO nodes which can load LUTs, CDLs, or use the color transforms from an OCIO config, and there are two available OCIO viewport LUTs: One can take a File LUT and the other a config.

Thanks for confirming Bryan that is great news! I will need to work on my paths to have the nodes show up. Thanks for the screenshot as well.

If you have the OCIO environment variable set and pointed to a config.ocio file, Fusion will also auto detect that and have any OCIO options preloaded with that config. It just won’t show it in the file path text box.

Hi,
I have this problem even when the environment variable is set.
I'm working on macOS Catalina and Fusion 16. When I put the OCIO Node to my comp in the pulldown menu there are not the informations from config.ocio but the build in stuff. When I manually set the path to the config.ocio in the node so I have access to all the information from it.

The .zprofile is correctly set so when I open the terminal the OCIO variable is shown correctly.
What is going wrong by my side?

Best,
Dag

On macOS the Fusion.app process isn't typically started from a terminal session so it doesn't inherit the environment variables that exist in zsh.

This means you have to define the environment variables you want to access inside of Fusion using a LaunchAgent .plist file placed in either your "/Library/LaunchAgents/" or "$HOME/Libary/LaunchAgents/" folders. (Note the file permissions have to be set correctly for the .plist to be loaded correctly.)

There have been several discussions on the topic of Fusion & macOS environment variables on the BMD Forums and Steakunderwater.
