X,Y Coordinates with Spline editor

PostWed May 22, 2019 6:05 pm

When I open the Spline editor on the fusion page, I only see a "displacement" parameter for each transform node.

I need to be able to adjust the X and Y positions individually. Is there a setting that allows this?

Thanks,

Yes, in the default settings you can specify that you want paths to work as X/Y paths. For exisiting ones you can convert from one to the other. I think it is by right-clicking the path in the view and finding convert to x/y path somewhere. (not at my system right now)

Thanks,
I've been over settings and preferences and don't seem to be able to find anything.

The closest I came was Menu>Fusion Settings>Splines>Tracker Path which I've set to XY splines.

I have restarted Resolve and create a new fusion composition but still no XY.

Right-click in the Image View (not the Spline editor). Right-click, choose Path(#):Polyline, and then choose Convert to XY Path, which should be a little below the center of the menu.

I think you can only choose for Tracker paths to be XY by default. I don't recall that there's an option in the Prefs for other animated Point controls. I seem to remember that someone made a script at some point that would convert Trackers to and from XY paths. It shouldn't be too difficult to adapt it to change other kinds of tools, too. I have no idea where I saw that script, though.

Okay, I think I've found it.

In the inspector - Right Click on Center>Modify With>XY Path

Bryan,

I guess I don't know what "image view" is I've been right clicking all over the place and can't find Path.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

The view where the image is:

It occurs to me that maybe you are trying to add animation that way. That doesn't work; it only allows you to convert an existing polyline path to an XY path. The way you described above: Modify With... is the way to add an XY path prior to animating.

Thanks very much. I had/have animation working I just couldn't find a way to modify X and Y individually in the spline editor. That's working just fine now. I appreciate your help.
