Completely new to Fusion, Don't know what to do

PostThu May 23, 2019 2:24 am

I'm trying to use a planar tracker. Once I have gotten my tracker point, I press "Track to End". However, it only tracks 3 frames before it says "Track append failed". It tells me that I have to "change the current time to lie on a tracked frame and proceed to track from there". I have no idea what to do here. Please help!

Not a lot to go on here...

Did you set a shape to be tracked before starting (not just one point)?

Ideally you want to mark out a detailed, mid-to-high-contrast area that is visible throughout the entire portion of the clip you want to track (typically the entire clip) whenever that is feasible.

If you are tracking a specific object, you obviously want to keep the marked area on that object. If you are tracking the movement of the camera, you want to mark something in the scene that is only moving because the camera is.

You may want to check the tutorials on BMD's training page if you haven't already: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/produc ... e/training

Check that your background and projet and foreground have the same frame rate. For fusion, all source material should have the same frame rate. If not you are asking for trouble, particularly with the tracker. Personally, I find the perspective mode very touchy so I often use translate without issue.

It's probably safe to assume that they've figured this one out at some point in the last four years. Please think twice before replying to a thread that's more than a few months old. Sometimes there's a good reason to, of course, but generally it's a poor use of everyone's time, yours most of all since you had to spend the effort to craft your response.
