Fusion modifier key

Page 60, paragraph 6, of "Fusion Visual Effects" book refers to "Holding down the modifier key". What and where is this key as I can find no reference to it in any of Davinci Resolve manuals?

I don't have that book, but does it perhaps refer to a previously-referenced key? The modifier keys are Alt, Shift, and Ctrl (windows) or Cmd (Mac).
