Unsqueezing anamorphic clips in Fusion page

PostMon Sep 09, 2019 6:25 pm

(Apologies for the crosspost from the Resolve forum, but I just realized I might get more feedback in the dedicated Fusion forum...)

I am working with 2.0 PAR anamorphic footage in 16.1b2, and sending a clip to the Fusion page. The clips (2880x2160) are properly unsqueezed in the Edit page, but in Fusion, they still appear with a 4:3 display aspect ratio.

I tried toggling the "Show Square Pixels" option in the Fusion viewers, but it doesn't seem to affect the viewer image at all.

Even worse, when I switch back to the Edit page after working with the squeezed Fusion comp, the image from MediaOut is doubly-squeezed in the horizontal axis! ARGH!

Any ideas?

Evidently the PAR metadata isn't getting passed from the Edit page into Fusion. You can use a Resize node to change the ratio. Make sure you click the Reset Size button first to be sure you aren't resampling, then tick "Change Pixel Aspect" and enter the scale factor you need. The 1:1 switch should then work as expected. Hopefully the MediaOut will respect the ratio. I don't have Resolve installed here at the moment to check that.
