Blackmagic Design UltraStudio Express Question

I just want to confirm before I purchase one of these, will I be able to send a video-out signal from Davinci Resolve on my computer via thunderbolt to my SDI monitor with this?

Yes, but not at the same time as using it for live grading.
Resolve has a preference where you can set your devices for capture&playback and live grading. If you use the express for one of them, it won't work for the other. The slightly annoying thing is that you need to restart Resolve for this change to take effect.

(edit: I actually use the hdmi output for my monitor. But there's no reason it won't work with sdi too)

Yeah that's fine, I don't need to live grade at the same time, but you're saying you can also output out of the HDMI. I guess I'm not that familiar with sending or receiving outputs.

I have a macbook pro retina late 2013, which has a hdmi-out built in. Are you saying I could use that output to send the image to my monitor? The times I've tried in the past it just sends a portion of the Resolve interface not the image I'm actually grading.

Any help on this?

No, I don't think you can do that. The HDMI on the MB seems to work as a display.
I was talking about the hdmi out on the ultra studio express.
