Save Decklink output

PostSat Jan 21, 2017 4:04 pm

Hey all!

At my local broadcasting station, we use a Decklink Duo card as output to the cable operators. We are legally obliged to log the entire broadcast for 14 days (336 hours). Fortunately, it is allowed to record in a low bandwith and a low resolution

I was wondering if there is any chance we can directly record the output, since I did not found that option in Media Express for instance (it only records input signals).

The playout system is working on CasparCG, but the company who maintains it does not know if and how to log it.

Do you have any idea?

Find a functioning PC, add a low-cost Decklink card to it, a fair amount of storage and use it to record the output?

If H.264 is acceptable you could send the output into the H.264 recorder box.

I believe CasparCG can be configured with multiple "Consumers" - add a file consumer to the Decklink one. I don't use CasparCG currently so I can't give more detail. Plenty of companies make "Compliance Recorders" if you want an off-the-shelf solution.
