DeckLink 4K Extreme & 5.1 monitor out

PostFri Apr 28, 2017 10:05 pm

Hi,
If I have the DeckLink 4K Extreme what is the best way/what do I need to listen to a 5.1 mix out. This would be for Premiere, Avid, REsolve. I'm fine with using a sound bar.

-Thanks!

I just ran into this yesterday, if you use HDMI there seems to be a bug in the driver where channels 3 and 4 are swapped. I.e the center will be coming out of the LFE channel and vice versa. Super annoying.

Hi All, So I just bought a 5.1 soundbar with HDMI in. I'm going from my DeckLink 4K Extreme card in my PC. to it. I'm only getting track 1&2. I have tried in Resolve & Premiere.

Settings?

Any thoughts/help?

What is your 5.1 source?
You need to probably use 5.1 track in Resolve.
In Premiere make sure you set things correctly in Audio, Audio Hardware and Playback tabs in the settings. Make sure you also use 5.1 track or 6 channels track with correct mapping.

Yea I've tried most of that. It's 6 separate tracks
L
R
C
LFE
Ls
Rs

And have each track patched to it's output meaning 1-2, 2-2..etc.

Is it all set properly in Track Output Channel Assignment?

What do you see in Audio Meters bars? All 6 channels active and correctly showing up? Premiere is quite tricky to setup for audio mono monitoring. BM card should pass 8 channels over HDMI. Rest is matter of finding proper routing. It's not necessarily L,R, C, LFE, Ls, Rs. This is what you know, but this is not always the order how audio travels over HDMI.

Another test- export this as 10bit uncompressed MOV and try playing over MediaExpress. It has audio meters also and if audio shows up correctly there then it definitely should go to HDMI (as I said- order maybe still wrong though). SDI routing should be definitely 1:1 as what you see in MediaExpress, but HDMI is more unpredictable.
