How to capture and encode SDI signal

PostTue May 23, 2017 8:46 am

Hi all,

I am looking for a solution to capture every hour and down convert SDI signal.

Source:
- Bitrate: >5Mbps

Output:
- I want to record signal into files (with fixed duration, eg: 30 mins).
- All files will be down converted to 2Mbps.

Is there any cards can do all in one, or we need to break into 2 steps: record by Decklink card, transcode by other software?

Can anyone give me a solution to do that?

Thanks and regards,

You'll need to capture it first, and then convert it second. Capture can easily be automated with a Decklink card and software using the Desktop Video SDK, transcoding can also be easily automated using software that supports a watch folder.

Thanks, can Media Express be scheduled for capturing? As I mentioned, I need to capture into 30-mins files.

No, you'll need third party software to do it. Metus INGEST has scheduled capture.
