Recording Playback - HELP!

PostSun Jan 21, 2018 4:45 pm

Hey guys,

Would anyone know what the best option would be for the following situation:

I recorded important footage onto my URSA Mini Pro. It is on an SD card. That SD card cannot be read by a computer. However, I am able to play the footage back on the camera itself perfectly. Any ideas? Any BMD products available which could record the footage being played back?

I'm thinking about using the Atomos Shogun to record the playback? Anyone have any an opinion on this or have any other ideas?

Any chance you formatted the card to OS X Extended in the camera, and are trying to use it with a windows computer?

Hmmmmm.... that is a very good point I think it may be formatted in OS X and yes my laptop is windows... I will check that out and get back to you. Thank you very much for the reply, Jeremy.

EDIT: I just realized that this probably isn't the issue as when I did the chkdsk command it told me that the SD card was RAW so that was why it couldn't access it.

I wouldn’t let windows do any checking or repairs before trying it in a Mac.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply. So you think that it could still work in a MAC even after windows telling me that the SD card is RAW? which as far as I can tell basically means that the sd card is "corrupted"...

If it was formatted for Mac, windows would not recognise it and probably report it as unformatted. So, if you haven't done any repairs in windows (and you can still see the files on the camera), there's a good chance its formatted HFS. All the recent Macbooks (and Pros/Airs) have SDCard slots.

Dave is right that Windows will report an HFS formatted card as raw/unformatted.

You can install the free HFSExplorer to read your data:

You need to install the Java Runtime first to use this tool:

Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.
