No Refresh Rate Option (Mac Os)

PostSat Dec 28, 2019 9:24 pm

Hello

I have an Eizo CG 247X monitor that I want to connect to my new MacBook 16''. I connected the monitor via an eGPU with a Vega 64 over HDMI. The Eizo monitor has variable refresh rates. So for editing I would like to set it to 48 or 50 Hz. Though in the display settings for the Eizo monitor I don't even get a greyed out refresh rate indication. How come? Is this because of the eGPU? Over direct Display Port Connection I was also not able to see or change the refresh rate.

Thanks for the help.

Cheers

Did you try SwitchResX?
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

SwitchResX seems to be the way to go. Worth the price, but something Apple should implement in their OS to be honest.

I'm not on Catalina yet. Can you alt/option click the "scaled" button in the displays pref pane to get access to refresh rate, and some additional resolutions?

Regardless, Switchres is priceless, even before the "bigger", "smaller", dumbification. Getting non-integer frame rates is just about impossible without it.

Good Luck

If monitor/TV supports multiple refresh rates OSX shows them (specially for HDMI connection). It may be related to your eGPU.
