Blackmagic Media Express - Color Space and Color Range

PostWed Jan 08, 2020 1:21 am

Please forgive me if this is a silly question but I've been unable to find a solid answer. I'm recording 2160p 59.94 video using the AVI 8-bit YUV setting via a Decklink Quad HDMI. VirtualDub, MediaInfo, and other applications report the basic video specs, but nothing shows the video color space and color range. I want to ensure I'm recording in full 0-255 color range using Rec 709 color space. Is there something I'm missing in Media Express? What are the default capture settings for the 8-bit YUV option? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

It will be rather limited range, but AVI or MOV have no flag for range. There is no such a thing like gamut indication either. It's as source. You can tell both things by analysing file in eg. Resolve color managed project.
Recording itself does nothing to the source.
