Intensity Pro and PS3

PostWed Sep 19, 2012 12:43 am

I've been fairly dissatisfied with the intensity pro with the main reason being that I can't get it working. I've looked online for setup videos/posts, issues people were having, etc. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if my card is just defective.

My computer is this:
motherboard: intel DP67BG
CPU: 2700k
memory: 32GB vengance kit running at 1866
graphics: GTX 580 in SLI
OS: windows 7 64bit
PS3: one of the original 250GB models

HDMI to the TV works fine of course. Component to the TV works fine. Component to capture card using NTSC works fine. Whenever I try and change it away from NTSC, I lose video and audio. For instance, I change the PS3 to run at 720P. Screen goes black and I change the settings in media express to 720P 59.94. nothing. 720P at 60fps knowing this is wrong, nothing. same for 50fps, nothing. I try the same thing with both 1080p and 1080i using all the settings available and still get no video and lose audio until I change it back to NTSC. I also tried all of this in xsplit with the exact same results. This is for the drivers included on the disk with media express 9.0 and the current drivers online at 9.6.4.

Anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

I hope you're not outputing your PS3 in HDMI, else there's no way you can get signal without breaking the HDCP with a HDFury2 or 3, I went through the same steps with my Shuttle.

PS3 > HDMI Splitter > 1 & 2

1 = Monitor
2 = HDFury2 > Intensity Shuttle > Laptop

This setup also removes all input lag from your gaming monitor yo use (that is, if you play on a lagless monitor)

No, I'm using component in to the breakout cable. I don't have an output for it right now. Sorry for missing that point.

Did you went in Control Panel, Hardware & Sounds, Black Magic Design Control Panel and selected your input as Component, leave Output as Anything.

Yes. I have input set to component video and audio. Output is set to component just so it doesn't look for an hdmi cable. I've tried changing the default video format on this screen as well and it seems to do nothing.

I have a PS3 Slim (160GB) and use a Component Cable to put out the Video signal to my intensity shuttle (usb 3.0 version).
My PS3 is set to output 720p and/or PAL via Component and it works fine.

Do you have unchecked all other resolutions on the PS3 side?

On the PS3, I have all other settings disabled. When I hit square to test the video settings the recording at NTSC goes black, so I know it's sending a different signal. I've tried changing the resolution on the card both before and after starting the new resolution on the PS 3 and get no response in both cases. I'll try and set everything up again tomorrow (the card has since been removed from the computer) and record what I'm doing.
