No preview while capturing on multibridge pro/FCP7

PostTue Sep 25, 2012 2:48 pm

We have had an FPC7 setup for years that has behaved normally. But a few months ago, something weird started happening: when capturing video through our Multibridge Pro II, there's no preview in the capture window - WHILE CAPTURING. There's preview in the Log and Capture window before hitting the capture button, that is while we're shuttling the deck or whatever. but as soon as you hit capture you get the black screen, FINAL CUT PRO text and an apple logo. the status at the bottom says it's capturing and in fact it is capturing just fine.

I'm running a capture right now, where we're taking the output of one FCP system (Decklink SDI card), playing 1080p out, into the Multibridge, which is downconverting it to SD Anamorphic and capturing to NTSC ProRes HQ. The Video output on the multibridge is set to NTSC 10 bit, and the captured video plays back on a monitor just fine with this setting. So our input and output settings match. No other application that uses the video card is running.

Any idea why we can't preview this? it's not a showstopper, but it sure is annoying.

Anyone have an idea what might cause this?
