CS6 xml to Resolve 9 b3

PostThu Aug 23, 2012 6:53 am

Hi.

I just had problem to get CS6 XML work with R9 b3.

Media was all red files.

I had 2 problems:

1. with absolute camera timecode shots were placed wrongly in conform to timeline.

2. with edge code media could not be connected as it seemed to have timecode differences
in files which not was the case

I got it working with round trip

1. export xml from CS6

2. import xml to FCP 6 or 7 (all re connects perfectly)

3. export xml from tcp

4. import fcp xml to conform page

5. all work in first go just perfect!

I'm not sure if it is R9 problem or Premiere problem but it took me few hours to figure out.

It could be really confusing when you work in deadline :D

Hope it would help someone having the same problem.

Did you have time remaps in the edit and did those transfer over via FCP?

I had the identical workflow recently and couldn't get any of the variable speed effects or resizing that was done in CS6 to appear properly.

Got another one coming up soon. Curious to know if it worked for you?

no. not any wary speed and as far as i know wary speed is not supported now.

just plain edit with cuts and couple of fades.

after fcp roundtrip all works great.

edit was done with proxy prores generated with Resolve and proxys had proper timecode.

Hi Margus

am working in cartoon using ToomBoom, 3DS Max software
all clips generated from TGA series imported in Adobe Media Encoder and exported as Quicktime uncompressed 10Bit YUV mov files, edit in premiere then export XML to grade, there is no reel names or time codes

in davinci 9 Project Settings\ Master Project Settings\ Conform Options, I use Timecode Embedded in the source clip and unchick Assist using reel names from...

this setting working in davinci 8.2

any suggestion

thanks

if you have all files with separate names then you could use filename as reel name.

in conform options you can select it.

Hi Margus

I chose Assist using reel names from: source clip filename

the XML loading but I get the same error to all media clips "The clip "Eps_28-001.mov" can't be linked to the media file "Eps_28-001.mov" because the reels do not match"

but all media clips loaded in media pool

thanks

Can you make screenshot of your conform page so that lower left side is all visible?
