Hi'

I came here because I encounter some troubles on my computer.

I was using Blackmagic media express, with a blackmagic intensity pro, just fine a few months ago on my computer.

I change some pieces on my computer and I have to do a new installation.

Since then, I cannont use blackmagic media express anymore.

At first, I install Blackmagic using the DVD from the box of my card, it was an old version.
As soon as I installed it and reboot my computer, my system was very slow and start freezing, my mouse moved by accoups.
When I uninstalled the software for the card, everything came back to normal.

So I make some reseach on the internet and find out that it could be a problem with the firmawre updater that was running etc etc.

So I went to the blackmagic website and download the latest version of DesktopVideo, the 9.6.5.

Everything went fine, and as the installation finished I blocked the processus of update from blackmagic software in msconfig and Ccleaner.

So now, the system was fine, no freeze, no slowdown, nothing.

I start launching the new version of blackmagic media to use it on some videogames captures.

Problem is, after a few seconds of utilisation of the soft, my system freeze and crashed with a scary blue screen !

I don't know it came from.
I'm a little bit desesperate :/

Anyone have any idea on what's going ? of what's wrong ?
Please help me :/

And I can't find on the website the contact formula :/

By the way, my system :

Window 7 64 bit official
MB : ASUS M5A88-M EVO
Procc : AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
GC : Sapphire Radeon HD 5850
RAM : Corsair DDR 3 1600 Mhz 2*4Gb
SSD : OCZ Vertex 2 120 Gb

Thanks for your help !

I suggest updating bios if you haven't done that already, if you have the newest bios maybe downgrade by 1 ver.

If your computer worked before but after a reinstall doesn't work now, it would imply some software issue.

You updated the BIOS, but did you make sure you got the latest chipset drivers for the motherboard installed. This can be crucial as like all hardware devices, the drivers must be optimal for the hardware and software (OS) to talk properly. Its worth checking out.

Also as a note. You should not be trying to stop the firmware updater. If it's trying to update, its because it believes that the firmware on your board does not match the driver you are using which as you are seeing is causing crashes. Let me explain what happens.

Computer boots up, and CheckPCIVersion.exe reads the current driver version, then reads the firmware version on the board. If they do not match it will attempt to update. If they do match the app stops and is released from memory.

When this app runs, it puts the hardware into a low service mode. That means, it shows up on the system but doesn't have any options in the control panel and is otherwise non-functional. Once the firmware takes it reboots and runs the test again. If it passes, again the updater shuts off and is released.

If this process gets interrupted it is possible that firmware gets corrupted and results in a firmware update loop.

Buy shutting down this process, it essentially allows the board to run, but run with firmware that is corrupted or firmware that simply doesn't match. This will cause crashing.

If we the firmware is corrupted we need to get the card back and flash it here. Most of the time we can fix that issue.

Now there is a chance that there is a software issue that is preventing that update process from running properly, but we don't see to many of those and that typically happens on systems that are running odd permission sets.

How do you check if the issue is the firmware or the OS? Put the board in a different system and install the drivers. Does the firmware update run and take properly? If so, you can probably reinstall the board on the other system and the issue should go away. If the same thing keeps happening, we'll probably need to see that sick board back here.

First, thank you for your answer.

Second, I have a problem with the updater.
Every time it starts or I start it, it gives me this error code :

Of course I tried to do what's asked but it doesn't change anything.

(My installation is from the "DesktopVideo_9.6.5" version)

Did you attempt to attach an image? I'm not seeing an error code?
