Resolve Lite 10 beta install issue

PostSat Nov 02, 2013 9:29 pm

I'm trying to install Lite Beta 10. Actually, I tried to install the 9.XX version earlier as well, but got the same error.

The error is "A newer version of Resolve is already installed, please uninstall it in Control Panel first."

Well, I've never installed Resolve in my life. Further, there is no Resolve, or Davinci Resolve, or Black Magic Davinci Resolve, or anything else in my Programs. Did a search of the computer just to make sure and nothing. Did a thorough cleaning of my registry. My computer is clean.

Any ideas why the installation program thinks I've already installed the program? Thanks so much! :D

Forgot to mention that I'm on a Windows 7 machine.

I'd guess a failed install attempt, but ...
The Q&D solution is to delete/rename the registry key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve]

The lack of an Uninstall entry and this sort of error has been lurking in the betas for a while !

UPDATE: see the Windows topics for his solution, BUT there is a continuing problem
with the Uninstall entry and overwriting betas with new betas (and RCs)
