Intensity Shuttle + S-VHS = ?

PostTue Dec 10, 2013 12:58 am

Hi all.

Decision time: will the Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle USB3 be capable of capturing VHS through an S-VHS (JVC BR S800E) deck?

The deck is purported to have a TBC component and I also have an old Videonics mixer with TBC that can be incorporated into the signal path if it helps.

OR based on the hit-n-miss results that I have read about in this forum: will the Intensity Shuttle drop frames with this source material?

I understand the inherent flaws with VHS, but for aesthetic reasons it is a medium I enjoy using and need a painless method for ingesting that would ideally also upscale to HD.

Any further thoughts? Any alternate suggestions(I am considering an MX02 unit)?

Thanks all!

It's not the material that will cause the drop frames. It's the system. If the system is compatible (and that's admittedly harder to do than it should be).

So if you are looking to integrate this system you should check out our support notes on USB3 in the support section of our website. Maybe that will help you make an informed decision.
