Intensity Shuttle USB and Z77

PostThu Dec 26, 2013 2:51 pm

I am about to purchase new vidcap hardware. I am running Win 7 Ultimate x64 on an ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe mono.

Does anyone know if the USB 3.0 in the Intensity is compatible with the Z77 chipset? It is, obviously, much newer than the x58 in the minimum specs that Blackmagic lists.

I don't want to make a bad purchase. And I don't want to install a Thunderbolt card.

Thanks in advance.

Well as you can't buy TB cards you wouldn't be able to install one unless you had one of the earlier boards that Asus shipped with them.
As to the USB3 shuttle, the only way to really tell is to try it. I doubt the Asmedia chipset will work, but the Intel might. Failing that you could buy an NEC/Renesas USB 3 card and use that to connect, or buy an Intensity Pro

How do you capture S-Video with the Intensity Pro?

You connect the y-splitter cable that comes in the box to the red and the blue input cables and set it to s-video in the control panel
