Shadows must be green ...

PostThu Jan 02, 2014 9:21 pm

Hi,

In the last months I watched a lot of videos, from the blackmagic cams, some comparisons with other cams and only other cams from db to canon.
Especially in video that are called "graded" I noticed a tendency to make the shadows green.
Why? Do they what to make a reference to "Matrix"?
I would understand blue. Even a boring "blockbuster"-orange-blue/cyan - grade.
But green?
Orange skin and green shadows.
Disgusting if you ask me.

99% could be compression: the more is compressed the more is green tinted.

DO you have access to uncompress material?

I got some references (as frames) that where "tinted" but generally speaking the material I'm working on is not "green tinted" I see some bluish/cyan tinting thou, (like the last superman) and that could be style...
