Resolve transcode alexa daily missing REEL

PostSat Oct 13, 2012 5:36 am

Dear all

This is my first post here.I'm using davinci resolve 9 lite version.
Recently I did a workflow using davinci resolve to transcoding Alexa Log-C footage to 709 video
for offline editing. My NLE is Final Cut Pro 7.

The files I export from resolve has the exactly name as the original.
But when they were imported into FCP 7
The REEL column in FCP's browser panel is blank.

I just wondering if the EDL I export in the future for online finishing,
They would not finished conforming for sake of missing REEL in daily footage.

Sorry for my poor English.
Thanks in advanced :-)

The default project configuration has tape name extraction disabled. You'll need to enable that. Then you will see the Reel ID column populate in the media pool.

Settings > Master Project Settings > Conform Options > √ Assist using reel names from the > Embedding in source clip file.

(Alexa quicktimes have embedded tape name. Not all cameras and formats do, so in those cases you could rely on the folder name using "Source clip file pathname: */%R/%D")

Now when you export ProRes quicktimes to FCP, they will have a Tape name.

If you don't want to re-transcode everything, you could do an XML conform instead of an EDL. That way you have filename references which are even more precise than tape name.

hi,

you have to check your conform options!

there you can chose what reel info should be written in
the metadata of the clip.

in the media page you can add a clip and you can
check immediately if it worked!

Thanks so much
I did as just you mentioned, and the files I re export from Resolve has Reel embedded.
I import them into FCP,in the file browser panel, the Reel column is there, too.
But something strange happened, the edl I export could not take reel, either.

And what's more, the EDL I previously I exported via the no reel files I used.
Resolve can also finish conforming,
I just wondering if the reel is more or less in the conform workflow

Thanks again
