DaVinci crashes

PostWed Apr 16, 2014 8:58 pm

Hi there!

Not sure if this is the right place for an error post. Move it if you have to.

I just downloaded the Resolve 10 version, having used 9 for a while now. I tried to import an XML file which went fine until I was supposed to specify the folder that I stored my video files in. I choose the folder and wait for a while DaVinci is loading. DaVinci then crashes right after it's done loading. No error message to specify the problem or anything.

Is this a common problem and is it possible to solve it?

Assuming you are using Resolve 10.1.4, please post your XML and we'll take a look at it.

Yes, that is correct. I'm trying to upload the XML but I can't figure out how, because it won't let me post URLs and XML is not a supported extension to upload as an attachment.

This happens everytime I try to open any type of footage, so I'm guessing it's not a problem with the XML itself. When I tried to import R3D footage I got an error message.

Not sure what it means... I've tried several other file formats, and I can't import any of them.

It happends me too. Going to make me crazy while I make a project with xml, edl.
It crashed easily after 10.1.4 with no reason. There is no doubt that the editing function is gonna be very useful for independent production, but other major post productions seems don't need that detailed function for work. I feel it's getting heavy for handling with new version of Davinci.

I'm still struggling with this. Right now I'm doing my grading for clients in PPro which is not ideal at all... As I mentioned before it's not a problem with the XML, because this happens if I start new projects and try to import video clips as well.

I really do need help ASAP!

Hi, so for now let assume its not the XML. If you post all the details about your system, os version, cuda, resolve, GPUs etc, etc, someone might be able to assist.

Which file types have you tried? Where did they come from? Were they native in that format or converted? the more info you offer the easier it will be for someone to help.

This is my system

Motherboard: MSI Z87-G41
HDD: 1TB Seagate Desktop SSHD 8GB 7200rpm
CPU: Intel Core i7 4770K 3.5 GHz (Haswell)
RAM: Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) CL10 1600MHz VENGEANCE LP
GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 770 2GB DirectCU II OC
Windows 7 x64
Resolve 10.1.4

This happens to ALL my files as I mentioned earlier. No matter what format it is or whether they are native or not.

And it can't be the XML. As I've previously stated in this post, it happens when I try to import footage. I don't even import the XML. I open a new project and try to import footage, with NOTHING else in the project, and it still happens.

Still struggling with this. I've tried almost everything. Is there any way to revert back to an older version? I know Resolve 9 worked fine for me. I need to be able to use this software.

Is you GUI monitor connected to the GTX card?
What resolution is the display?
Are you only running one display?
What CUDA version are you running?
Any other cards in the PCI slots?
