New ICA tutorial

PostTue Apr 22, 2014 11:45 am

This is a very popular scene detector question asked during my ICA Resolve classes, "Where do I put the cut if I need to grade over a dissolve using a baked clip?" This tutorial explains my method.

Thanks for another good tip!

Another trick is to export an edl of the scene cut and use that as a preconform edl on your baked clip. Now you can place dissolves between your clips and use the razor tool to create cuts where needed. If your dissolving between two shots with completely different node structures I think it is easier.

I always suggest putting complex dissolves or shots either side of a wipe or PIP at the end of the timeline. They can then be graded separately then edited back into the finishing timeline.
With Resolve 11 this might be a thing of the past as more and more jobs stay on the same box
