Footage with alpha over animation

Live action footage is shot on green and keyed in AE. Animation background plates are Flash, created in AE. Composited together in AE. We want to grade the live action without affecting the animation, AND make the live action match the animation...

exporting separate TIFF sequences from AE (BG and foreground).

Resolve seems to import alpha channels so I CAN grade just that layer... I don't see in the manual (p.498 ish) how to export footage with an alpha channel and no background. Resolve keeps adding a grey BG. I keep finding people discussing "target mode", but I can't find it in the manual OR in the software...

AFAIK Resolve does not export alpha channels.

If you need the alpha channel again, you can try adding it in FCP or AE.

If not, you can mix both (bg and fg) image sequences in Resolve and export the final composited image.

Or export a single composited image from AE and then use a black and white matte in resolve to grade the image only.

Rodrigo.

DRAT!!

That is not what I wanted to hear. :(

It seems that the animators could use the same mask they created the first time through, it just seems like an extra step...
