Thanks, I did see the Cubix expander but I am looking for a more cheap alternative. With the grading prices these days I can't spend $3.000 for just an expansion slot.

Birch - There is an Xpander Desktop Series II from Cubix which runs $2700 at full 16 channels (80Gbps) connectivity. You can source one online from many dealers at $100-$200 below MSRP, or opt for 8-channel (40Gbps) connectivity for $400-$500 less than 16-channel MSRP.

$3000 bucks is a little pricey depending on what you want to do. www.maxexpansion.com
has "scalable" solutions for expansion. you can mix and match your interface type and only buy the number of slots and speed that you need. I like that you could get one thing like thunderbolt then swap out the interface card and use PCIe x16 later...if you like. Its way more flexible than most boxes out there now.

I have the cubix desktop 4 and it has given excellent performance and cubix has provided excellent support. They have a smaller lower cost version that only holds two double wide gpu cards, but with the increased power of these cards it may be enough for you. Check out their site.
Personally I use 3 x gtx570.
