Which NLE editors should hobbiest/ consumers use

PostSun Sep 28, 2014 12:00 pm

I'm not in the league of making commerical movies, so I'm avoiding final cut pro, premiere pro etc, for an editor which can make reasonable quality home movies. I want to go beyond windows movie maker. Any recommendations please. Thanks.

Adobe Premiere Elements has just been released which might be a good solution for you. iMovie is another. You can edit great pieces in either since what rules is content, editing skills, story telling skills, etc etc. The NLE is just a tool. You can attach a board with a hammer and nail or with a hydraulic power device. Either way...

Good luck

If you have good GPU try Davinci Resolve 11 Lite.
An alternative is Lightworks free.

Hi Andrea,
My system isn't up to using DaVinci resolve 11 unfortunately. Lightworks is good although I would be better off getting the pro version so I can save 1080p. I will definately consider it.
