ProRes issue

PostWed Nov 21, 2012 11:46 pm

Hi,
Could not find the answer with a search. I am working with a ProRes file.
Does Resolve come with ProRes. I can't seem to find it in the Render options.
Is there a solution on a Z800.
Cheers

Are you talking about Linux Resolve? I don't think ProRes comes with it since ProRes encoding is only on Mac.
Correct me if I was wrong. Anyone? :)

Hi,
Many thanks for your post.
I am on a PC and I think your answer would be the same.

I beleive the None OSX versions of Resolve 9 (So Windows and Linux) will work with ProRes but cant encode it so you have to deliver in something else.

Given the widespread usage of ProRes this is quite the handicap for many of us.

Just note that this is not a Blackmagic issue, but Apple limiting the codec to decode only on PC systems, Decode and encode are available on a Mac. These are the issues with any codec and ensuring that they are truly "open" despite being widely used.
