Desktop Video 10.3.5 Incompatible with Decklink Studio 2

PostTue Jan 27, 2015 7:34 pm

Just updated to Desktop Video 10.3.5 and upon restart I get this popup notice:

"Software Update Required! Your Blackmagic Decklink Studio 2 needs a software update. This update only takes a few minutes, and makes sure you have the latest features and compatibility. Would you like the update now?"

I choose update now, and then a restart is required. After restart the same message pops up. I click update again, and after restart I get the same popup -- over and over and over again.
There was nothing about an incompatibility in the release notes, but it appears that is the case. Anyone else having this issue with the Decklink Studio and Desktop Video 10.3.5?

My system specs are:
Mac Pro 5.1 running OSX 10.9.5
3.33GHz 6-Core
16GB RAM
GTX 680 for CUDA (slot 1)
Quadro 4000 for GUI (slot 2)
Decklink Studio 2 (slot 3)
OWC SSD boot drive

Same problem here. I have a thread on this too. Sounds like BMD has an issue with the driver, I got a lot of hard crashes when I rolled it back.

Did you uninstall the driver then install an older driver or just use the Windows 'Rollback' option?

Uninstalling/Installing doesn't resolve the issue with 10.3.5

That's not what I asked him I asked if he'd used 'Rollback' or uninstalled the driver and installed an older driver. I wouldn't expect just re-installing the same driver to work if there is an issue with that version.

Is there any reason why you updated the driver? Unless there's something specific to your card/software I'd never recommend updating

The crashes were from attempting to uninstall the drivers first. Rollback in windows is for the insane :P

I upgraded the drivers because they specifically included Decklink Quad updates. I have both Decklink Quad 4K and Studio 4K on the same motherboard (asus sabertooth x79 TUF). The Quad works fine on 10.3.5.

For the record, same problem here... 10.3.5/Windows. Seems like it wants to do a firmware update, since it prompts at reboot and warns against interrupting. Annoying, but DeckLink still seems to function.

Ok this is how I soved the issue.

1. uninstall the 10.3.5 driver from control panel add/remove programs
2. Restart windows
3. Install old driver 10.3.4
4. Restart Windows
5. Open Resolve, open project
6. go to Preferences/video I/O and GPU
7. Set to none on "for capture and playback use"
8. Restart Resolve
9. Open Resolve, open project
10. go to Preferences/video I/O and GPU
11. Set to Decklink Studio on "for capture and playback use"
12. Restart Resolve

It should make it work

Desktop Video 10.3.7 solved the problem.
