Nightmare with premiere,dslr and davinci

PostTue Dec 04, 2012 6:24 pm

i got this project that im working on, i spent the last 10hours tryin to find a solution, and it seems like a regular problem. im working on a little project, where i want to grade with davinci. but davinci and premiere won't cooperate.

the scene detection tool is useless in this project. and neither the edl,aaf or xml works for me. everytime i either get f***ed up and misplaced timeline. or i get right timeline with no preview(red screen with cross over)

im using premiere cs6, and the free lite version. i was shooting with a 550d.

i read that i ha to add a timecode and reelname with qtchanger. so i did, even before i imported to premiere.

but still the same problem.... i also tried to tweak the conform preference like someone says u have to.
but still no progress.

What the heck am i doin wrong? its so frustrating.

I have the same problem.
I send a support request to the BM Team.
Maybe they can help us.

Not sure "exactly" what the issue is...but you can roundtrip with Premiere CS6 and Resolve.

For this to work you need timecode on your footage. DSLRs do not have timecode. AAF, XML and EDL require timecode. Try your luck in scene detection as there is no turning back now.

From now on get QTChange. That will give TC to your DSLR footage.

Why do you say scene detection is useless? That's probably the best option if something is wrong with your timecode.

When you add a reelname with QTChange, it will show up in premiere as "alternate tape name", not as the primary tape name required for round tripping. You'll have to add the same reelnames in premiere metadata window too.
