Hey! So right now I have an Asus G74sx. It works quite wonderfully for editing and coloring RAW (getting 13fps playing which isn't too awful haha), but I want to upgrade for a few reasons. I would love to work faster of course, I need more USB 3 ports for DIT work, and I would love to use my 30 inch Apple cinema display with it. My Asus will not output to 2560x1600 resolution through HDMI, would be great to use that with a new laptop. It would also be great to have 2 storage slots, one for boot one for work like my current setup. Here are the specs of my Asus.
Specs:
Windows 8.1
Nvidia GeForce 560M 3GB RAM
Intel i7 2.20Ghz
16gb RAM
Samsung 256gb SSD (boot drive)
1tb HDD 7200rpm (Storage)
1920x1080 Screen
1x USB 3 port.
All of my footage come from the Pocket Cam, usually raw. My DIT comes from a variation of cameras. I'm grading in Resolve and editing in Premiere.
I'm not even sure what to get. I'm not a huge fan of Apple products after using them for years, but I guess I can go back. I was looking at the Lenovo Y50, Asus G751, and Asus N550JK. Anything under $2k. Preferably more around $1.5k. That's all I got. Thanks for your help!
