Intensity Pro 4k black screen

PostThu Feb 26, 2015 6:02 pm

I seem to have some problems with my Intensity Pro 4k. I've been trying to get it to work for the past two days, but without succes. I've tried multiple resolutions (720 and 1080), color settings (RGB and YCbCr444), refresh rates (30, 50, 59,94 and 60), computers(PC1 and PC2, vice versa), PCIe slots, HDMI cables and software versions. After all of this, the device is showing up in media express but still only shows a black screen in media express and other application like Xsplit and OBS. I've never experienced this issue with other products from Blackmagic before.

(I'm capturing the signal from PC1 with PC2)

Specs PC1 (Gaming rig):
CPU: i7 - 3770k
Motherboard: MSI Z77A-GD65
Graphics card: MSI GTX670
Amount of RAM: 16GB
Storage: 120GB SSD, 1TB HDD WD Black & 1TB HDD WD Blue

Specs PC2 (Capture/record rig):
CPU: i7 - 920
Motherboard: Asrock X58 Extreme
Graphics card: ASUS GTX 460
Amount of RAM: 8GB
Storage: 500GB HDD WD Green
Capture card: Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4k

Just a quick glance and seeing you're trying to capture from one computer to another, is there HDCP enabled on the card or whatever software you're outputting to the capture computer? If so, this would prevent you from seeing anything in any preview window.

Are you also remembering to change the settings in the BM control panel as well as Media Express?

Not that I know of. I've tried capturing my PC, Xbox One and GoPro with the H.264 Pro recorder in 1080p60 and that worked without any problems. So I don't think it's a HDCP problem.

Yes, I've done that.

You need to check for for HDCP ON PC1 it's not the PC2 that is having the problem from what you say what is the resolution and frame frequency coming out of PC1 it should listed on PC1 display settings or you can check with a monitor

I am unable to capture ANYTHING with the Intensity Pro 4k. You name it...analogue source video, live camera, anything, no matter what capture format I choose. All settings are correct in Media Express and in the control panel. Blackmagic Design has yet to reply to my email regarding problems in Premiere Pro with the Intensity Pro 4K. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried installing the latest drivers? !0.4 does a firmware update which solved some of the issues I was having, and now as long as I choose the source input it now detects what is coming in through that source

I have just tried 10.4. HDMI capture is now working. Analogue capture is not. But I guess that's improvement.

I found with Analog that I had to feed a component signal in then it would allow me to switch from component to composite/S-Video
